More InformationFirst in a series of short articles in which a work from the exhibition in Tokyo is selected and commented on. Today's feature, by sculptor Masakazu Horiuchi, is Large Reclining Figure, 1983 fibreglass. Moore's early influence by Mexican sculpture and the belief of truth to material gave way to abstract works in the 1930s, before returning to portrayal of the human figure. The original small version of this sculpture has been turned into a large work resembling more a huge insect. Reprinted in Nishinihon Shimbun, 9 June 1986 (See 0010490).
Title romanized: Seimei e no sanka, 1: Maru de daikonchu.
