More InformationA church court rejected plans for Moore's Circular Altar, 1972 Roman travertine marble to be placed in St. Stephen Walbrook. After a five day hearing in January 1986 it was ruled that the work did not fall within the definition of a communion table, although there was no dispute as to its intrinsic beauty. A photograph of the sculpture in position in St. Stephen Walbrook for the hearing, appeared in the Daily Telegraph of 24 February 1986 and also in The Times and the Daily Mail of this date.
