More InformationCatalogue of an exhibition arranged by The Arts Council of Great Britain and held on the occasion of The Festival of Britain 1951." Includes two pages of Notes by Henry Moore: brief statements dating from 1930-1951. 169 Sculptures and Drawings 1924-1950. The exhibition was divided into two parts: The Foundations of Moore's Art and The Evolution of Moore's Art each section being introduced by David Sylvester. He describes Moore's transformations of natural objects into sculptural form. "He needs a vocabulary of natural forms to substitute for certain forms of the human figure." The Evolution of Moore's Art is divided into seven groupings showing in turn the primitive influences the new-found human warmth the far more abstract language attributed to the influence of Picasso the opening out of the Reclining Figure the extension beyond the domain of the Reclining Figure the War Drawings and the naturalistic idiom.
