Description: British Preliminary Exhibition sponsored by the Institute of Contemporary Arts. Lists twelve maquettes chosen to represent Great Britain in the International Competition and to receive Arts Council prizes, plus 32 additional maquettes chosen from the British entries for the competition. Moore is listed as one of the Central Committee for the International Competition, together with A.J.T. Kloman, Herbert Read, E.C. Gregory, Roland Penrose & Sir John Rothenstein. Ten members of the International Jury are listed, due to meet in London in March 1953 to make the final choice of winners, and those to be included in the International Exhibition to be held at the Tate Gallery from 13 March 1953. Applications were received from 3500 sculptors in 57 countries. (The eventual winner was Reg Butler).
