Moore's links with Surrealism and Abstraction. To these he added the influence of English Romantic tradition and that of primitive cultures. During World War II Moore made a memorable series of drawings of the huddled sleeping figures who were sheltered in London's subway tunnels. His last years produced numerous large-scale public commissions in bronze. This in the chapter on International Abstraction. For 1977 edition see 0003028.
