Also includes first hand accounts from David Sainsbury of the significance of Moore's friendship with Lord and Lady Sainsbury. Page 19 refers to a postcard from Lisa and Robert to a then teenage David, co-signed by Henry (Moore), Alberto (Giacometti) and Sandy (Calder), advising David that he was permitted to read Nabokov's Lolita. Illus of Moore's Mother and Child 1932 green Horton Stone, (LH 121) throughout, including, page 34 image of the work in situ at the foot of the stairs in the home of Robert and Lisa. Page 27 notes the original price Robert Sainsbury paid for the carving.
