Description: Commercial artist Ashley Havinden (1903-1973) met Henry Moore in 1933 and took carving and drawing lessons at the sculptor's studio in Hampstead. These informed much of Havinden's book Line Drawing for Reproduction (See 0009287). It was through Henry Moore that Ashley Havinden met Barbara Hepworth. She sold him her sculpture 'Wave, 1943-1944 wood, paint and string' which has been acquired by the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art with the help of the Henry Moore Foundation.
