Description: A portfolio of 13 images prepared by Patrick Caulfield, Merlyn Evans, Adrian Heath, Patrick Heron, John Hoyland, John Hubbard, Paul Huxley, Allen Jones, Henry Moore, Victor Pasmore, Bridget Riley, William Scott, Richard Smith. The Moore print is Architecture, 1971 soft ground etching and dry point. The production details cite 75 copies and list the individuals and galleries contributing to The Mark Rothko Memorial Trust, Holmes Son & Pott, 3 London Wall Buildings, London EC2M 5PN. The Trustees acknowledge also the co-operation of the Cultural Affairs office of the American Embassy London and the help of Barbara and Gilbert Lloyd of Marlborough Fine Art London in making their gallery spaces available for the first exhibitions of the portfolio". In an introduction headed The Mark Rothko Memorial Trust Bryan ROBERTSON provides an appreciation of Mark Rothko and records "how touched he was on hearing that Henry Moore had visited his show at Whitechapel on at least two prolonged occasions and had said that this was the only new and original painting to have moved him for many years"."
