White Notebook 1975-81

The front cover bears a lable inscribed by the artist in pen BONFIRE - LANDSCAPE (/INTERIORS added in pencil by another hand), the cover also bearing the inscription in pencil by the artist Cezanne [sic] Album/Christopher Hewett. The notebook is recorded by Juliet Bareau as having been intact in March 1979; pp.12,13,46 and 47 were removed in 1979 and several more drawings were taken out in 1980 or later, some being reworked by the artist and catalogued in 1980 and 1981. Many of these have now been traced to their original source. Five further pages have been allocated to the notebook and will be placed in sequence when their page numbers are identified. HMF 81(155), 81(156) and 81(158) are probably pages 42,43 and 45 respectively. The other two drawings are HMF 80(316) and 81(369).
The notebook may be earlier than 1975 (Bareau in the Wildenstein catalogue gaves HMF 75/80(19) and 75/80(20) as 1972?).

DescriptionCream paper-covered boards 295 x 200mm; the book originally contained 48 pages of off-white medium-weight wove 290x199mm in six signatures of eight plus endpapers.
