Moore is rarely given credit for his sense of humour, evident here in the lower left corner where he has added 'pin-men' legs to an abstract form. The same figures reappear in HMF 1323. The sketch in the middle of the top row reappears upper left in HMF 1336, and the two small spiral forms lower right, which Moore likened to sawn-up sections of a tree trunk in HMF 1339, also appear in HMF 1311, 1324 and 1456.
