This and the following drawing originally formed part of a large sheet, similar to HMF 1459;  Moore gave permission for the two sections to be separated in December 1983. See comment on HMF 1337.  Only the left-hand part is signed and dated contemporaneously with the drawing. Again, many of the sketches are variations on drawings done in 1937 or 1938. An interesting comparison can be made with HMF 1403 another sheet of ideas for stringed sculptures which shares almost the same dimensions as this sheet as does HMF 1402.
