Moore had begun to introduce more colour into his drawings in 1935 - for example in HMF 1177 and, to a lesser degree, HMF 1163. This 1937 drawing is unusually colourful, with three different shades of blue, and yellow, terracotta and khaki-green all contrasting with the dense black.
