As in HMF 1259, the figures in this unusually colourful drawing are set in a landscape. In August 1935 Moore had moved to Burcroft, a bungalow in Kingston, near Canterbury, which was surrounded by five acres of land. Here he was able to carve out of doors and place his sculptures against the landscape. He enjoyed taking photographs of his carvings seen against the distant skyline, with the valley sloping down behind the figures.
