Moore later worked up the sketch upper centre entitled sculptural object in/field into a large drawing HMF 1441 with the same title. The close-up of sculpture is a variant on Reclining Figure 1939 (LH 202). The sketch inscribed crowds of people round a tied-up object is the first appearance of a subject which Moore drew in 1942, HMF 2064.
