Moore incorporated various ideas called from preliminary sketches in this large drawing. For example, the large form in the left foreground has already been indicated in HMF 1406 where it appears at centre left. The second and fourth figures in the top line of another preliminary sketch HMF 1402 are included at upper right  in this drawing. The plant form with its pendulous fruits is derived from sketches in HMF 1412. The hatched background, comparable with those in HMF 1304, 1305 and 1306, seems to deny space but the shadows of the foreground 'Mechanisms' contradict this denial.
