Description: Discussion of the aesthetic and functional considerations relating to Moore's Circular Altar, 1972 Roman travertine marble and its rejection as unsuitable for St. Stephen Walbrook. In the Observer of 23 March 1986 a letter from Roger White, Secretary of the Georgian Group, sees Moore's work as alien to the Wren interior and disagrees with Gardiner's notion that it would have met with Wren's approval.
