Description: 106 Drawings 1928-1952. The introduction, entitled Communities of Statuary, points out that the exhibition is less one of drawings for sculpture than a selection of drawings in which figures are situated in space". It is seen as a "unique revelation of the sinister melancholy serene and tragic life of sculptural communities...The drawings...evoke a silence like drumming in the ears. Every happening takes place so to speak behind the artist's back; every regrouping of the figures occurs when he takes his eyes off them...a map of the moves in a secret game".
