The preliminary pages are English language versions of the exhibition list exchange of letters between MOORE and MIRO prefatory texts explaining the organisation of the exhibition by Rosa Maria MALET Ian BARKER and David MITCHINSON plus an introduction by Alexandre CIRICI from the Catalan catalogue 0001837.
The introduction entitled Reflection on Henry Moore summarises Moore's contribution to sculpture born out of insularity and a search for originality. His career influences and themes are outlined through Primitive and other artists Reclining Figures Surrealism and in the context of nature and landscape. Stringed Figures Family Groups and works from the fifties onwards are discussed with the later sculpture seen as intense and sublime. "They have arrived at a sort of archaeology without history..."
The 316pp body of the work is Henry Moore Sculpture; with comments by the artist introduction by Franco RUSSOLI edited by David MITCHINSON published by Polígrafa (Barcelona) 1981. For annotation and for details of other editions see 0001840."
