Description: News report on the unveiling of Draped Reclining Mother and Baby, 1983 bronze in front of Hakata station, to much general rejoicing. Names of all those who contributed to the purchase fund were recorded on microfilm and buried under the plinth. The statue was unveiled by three groups of mothers and children, backed by the local women's choir singing hymns.

The campaign was the subject of the editorial in the 24 December 1988 issue of Nishinihon Shimbun. There was still debate as to whether the front of Hakata Station was the proper site for the bronze, but it was seen as a marvellous Christmas present.
