Year: 1950
Date & Collation: (4 Feb)..(4 illus).Text in Dutch.
Description: Full-page feature in form of discussion on Moore's art in the wake of the Stedelijk Museum exhibition (See 0008028). Moore's sculptures show organic growth and primitive awareness as the main driving forces of man, rather than the historical tendencies to express man with spiritual forces. Moore's art is therefore seen as degrading although expressing craftsmanship and integrity and facing up honestly to the reality perceived by modern man. Moore's concentration on natural forms means that spiritual forces are absent from his works. The return to organic vitality in the absence of the spiritual is seen as a general mid-20th century trend. One of the illustrations is captioned by a poem by Ch. Wentinck.
