The lid of the box repeats the illustration of Madonna and Child, 1943-1944 Hornton stone.

On page 80 Havinden recalls meeting Moore at the Leicester Galleries in 1935: 'I was greatly excited by this meeting with Henry Moore...In my admiration for Moore and a desire to help him and myself I had a bright idea...I suggested that as we now both lived in Hampstead perhaps he would give me lessons in carving for two evenings a week...and we agreed on two guineas a week.
