More Information

Frank Stanton was born in 1908 in Michigan, and studied at Ohio Wesleyan University and Ohio State University before joining the broadcasting company CBS. He became president of CBS in 1946, and stayed in that position until 1971, before becoming vice-chairman until he retired in 1973.

Henry Moore first met Frank Stanton at Hoglands in 1961, when Stanton was one of those who came to ask Moore to provide a sculpture for the new Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in Manhattan, New York.

His photographs in the Henry Moore archive date from the 1960s and show Moore and his works, mostly related to Reclining Figure 1963-75 (LH 519).
