Bernard Meadows established a foundry at the Royal College of Art in London, where he was Professor of Sculpture from 1960 to 1980. The College had a three student a year intake for a foundry course and trained around 180 students. It was a great success and over sixty Moore works were casts there.

In an interview with Julie Summers in 2006, Bernard Meadows spoke about the foundry...
Bernard: I was very fussy.  I mean, I didn’t get it done any more cheaply than I could anywhere else.  It was essential that the prices were the same because what we didn’t want to do was to cast a whole lot of rubbish for people cheaply.  We wanted them to come to us because we were no more expensive than anyone else.  It had to be geared, as much as possible, to the current price range and it worked....
