This sketchbook is known only from a postcard dated 26 April 1918, sent by the artist while at Shoreham Camp, Sussex, to Alice Gostick in Castleford, Yorkshire. The message on the card contains the request, 'Could you send me another little sketchbook. I've filled the last.' We have no knowledge as to whether Miss Gostick complied to the request, but if she did then more than one sketchbook remains missing from 1918. For a full transcription of the message see HMF 18(1)
