More Information

Sketchbook 1950-51 p.69. The notes on the verso later found expression in articles of the 1960s, reproduced in Philip James, Henry Moore on Sculpture, Da Capo Press, New York 1992, p.120 and Alan Wilkinson, Henry Moore: Writings and Conversations, Lund Humphries, Aldershot 2002, p.205. The initials are those of Harry and Catherine Walston, friends of Moore who originally owned the drawing.
