More Information
Moore owned a carving of a lynx (possibly Persian, fourth century) which stood on a table in Hoglands. He made many studies of it between 1981 and 1983, being particularly impressed at the sculptor's skill in carving the soft mouth (also see HMF 81(159) and HMF 82(8)). The sculpture stood on a low table in Moore's sitting-room, catching the light from large windows facing east, south and west.
