More Information

See comment on HMF 82(1). Moore acquired this sculpture believing it to be a work by the school of Tino di Camaino (c.1285-1337), who may have been a pupil of Giovanni Pisano. Some years earlier Moore had collaborated with Michael Ayrton and Ilario Bessi in the preparation of a book on Giovanni Pisano and his father Nicola (Giovanni Pisano: Sculptor, Thames and Hudson 1969).
