More Information
Moore in America was a tour of twenty major large-scale sculptures which were positioned within three major US botanical gardens: New York, Atlanta and Denver. It was the largest outdoor exhibition of Henry Moore’s sculpture ever seen at a single location in America.

Moore took much of his inspiration from the natural world, and some of the bones, flints and other items that stimulated his imagination were shown to augment the main exhibition.

Henry Moore intended that his large scale works of sculpture be displayed in expansive landscapes so that their monumentality could be appreciated from many perspectives, in great varieties of light, as well as through the changing seasons. The botanical gardens, with their diverse flora, fitted this objective perfectly, offering a wide and varied backdrop and providing the appropriate scale and beauty to complement his sculpture.
