Description: Acknowledges support of Henry Moore Foundation for publication of this catalogue of exhibition held at Art Gallery of Algoma (Saulte Ste. Marie) 15 Aug-22 Sept 1991 and touring to four other sites until 10 May 1992 as part of Artreach 25, the Art Gallery of Ontario's celebration of 25 years of partnership with the province of Ontario. Mentions the parallel careers of Moore and Hepworth at Leeds School of Art and the Royal College of Art in the 1920s. Compares briefly their carving style, and records artistic circle in Hampstead in the 1930s. In the 1930s the close formal and stylistic similarities between the work of Moore and Hepworth continued. It was most pronounced between 1931 and 1934 when their sculpture was being informed by Surrealist sources..."
There is a 1931 holiday photograph of the Moores Hepworth Ivon Hitchens Nicholson and Mrs Jenkins at Happisburgh Norfolk. The chronology mentions that Hepworth first met Moore at Leeds School of Art in September 1920."
